Smiley DJ Cubase or some other?

Hi!

I am seriously planning to get a Virus-synth.
But I would like get some info what other people think about Cubase/or some other program?

I think to make meldies + bass lines with Reason, and use Virus sounds for those (controll Virus with my computer). But I think I need for that Cubase (rewire thing).

Or what about Sonar? Logic (or is that only for Mac)?

Or is the some other program I could use?
Every help is appreciated

Or what about Sonar? Logic (or is that only for Mac)?

And sorry if this is very stupid question to ask

Cubase is good for PC, but nuendo is pretty expensive. Logic is now only developed for mac, although, a lot of pros still use the PC version of logic (pc is 5.5.1, mac version is at 7).

You also wont be able to control a virus from within reason, so you're correct in saying that you have to use it rewired through another program. If you want to work in reason mostly, then it is probably better value for you to buy a cheaper sequencer program (such as FLStudio) and just used that for midi.

I'd say go with Sonar. Version 4 is coming out soon, but you can still pick up 3 for around $300. With Sonar, you also get rewire support just like with Cubase, but I've found Sonar to be a much more user friendly program in terms of ease of use, sound quality, and plug-in support. I know Cubase is a more popular program, but I don't thin there's anything you can do with Cubase that you can't do with Sonar. I've run both, and would pick Sonar in a heartbeat. PC only by the way. Regardless of what you'e leaning toward, DL a demo and check them out.

The best advice you can give when searching for a program.
Each person has a different workflow, and different taste. It's not because 70% of the world uses one program and likes it, that you'll like it. Best bet is to try out demo's, and find out what program you like best to work with.

As for what you want to do : Logic (as said, last PC version is 5.5.1, after that it's Mac only), Cubase (forget Nuendo, unless you really want to go in postproduction), Sonar, Samplitude, Tracktion.

With those you can't really go wrong, it's up to your personal taste to see which one gives you the best results.

So if I'll get FLStudio, I can control my Virus with it? And then I don't need Sonar or anything else?

I have to ask, what do you mean by "postproduction"? Sorry if that is silly question But I just don't know what that means...
