TranceAddict MIX-OFF 2004 xmas idea....

Right - after the sucess of the MP3 mix comp, how about getting another one kicked off.

Here's an idea...

Mixing method, ANY. Viynl, MP3, WAV, anyway. This way everyone who enters goes in with their best foot forward.

MIX type, a mix that for first 20 mins is pre-club, next 20-30 mins in the club, final 10-20 mins a chillout on way home. 60 minutes mix. 15 track limit.

128kbps or 160kbps encoding.

The mix must be NEW and contain at least 3 1990's tracks.

Any type of music but at least 50% of the in the club session MUST be trance of some nature.

Keep track EXCLUSIVE to the comp until judging is complete.

How's that sound?

too many rules...takes the actual fun out of mixing when you apply restrictions like those.

OK then folks, lets simplify them.

but the idea of a start area, main area and ending is in my book a good one....

Yep nice plan, but I agree a few too many rules.

I like the idea of yr set variance so if you go ahead with this keep that, as that was your main idea in the first place.

I think that all formats will be a good idea too as it will pit the vinyl warriors against the mp3 whores, lol only joking.

But having all formats will attract alot of people and that is gonna make it hard to judge as it takes a lot of time to listen to the mixes properly and get fair results, so mabey you will have to do a first come first served entry list.

My sugestion (only giving an opinion the final idea is obviously up to you) would be to keep the main idea but ditch the other rules like having 1990 tunes and also keep all the tracks trance related eg. crossover/housey tunes for the first part, big room trance for the middle and the probably finish off with one or two trance chillout tunes.

Anyhow I'd be up for this, imo it would be a good challenge of skills.

There will be shed loads of interest, but there's ways i guess to sort it.

lets say make 49 groups of 5 names, then, once filled, use the next lottery result to pick the 6 groups taking part, violla- 30 contestants, the bonus ball being the judges!
