one of my friends came around to liking pvd thru TPOD disc 2... but i think the best way is to take them out to the club. some might not be willing to shell out the money, but with something like nyc crobar/CP's guestlist thing before midnight on certain nights, it's doable. definitely has opened some of my friends' eyes to other types of EDM

I'd use something on the uplifting side, or maybe something that sits between cheese and progressive.
I don't think I have any descent albums in my collection. Ones that are easy to listen to, but yet beautiful.
Or just maybe: Tiesto - Nyana, and especially the track: "A Tear In The Open". Tell them to listen to the strings in that one!

Tranceport - Paul Oakenfold

That was my Gateway CD...lols and then I discovered Paul Van Dyk. Out There and Back is a GREAT cd. If they are into dance music, i guess either DJ Sammy or other vocal trance albums they have out there **shruggs** altho i dun consider DJ Sammy GOOD trance...some livesets are awesome too

I'm not much for foam. But it works on the regular folk who don't particularly know much about EDM. They eat shit like that up. GOod thing is that if you know someone has an open mind you can introduce them to some different sounds. Generally I don't start off non-listeners with what I listen too. But Prog. House works like a charm. I find that most people find that easier to get into than Trance b/c often people find trance to fast.

If there's no foam around then take them to an event that includes a good laser show.

And BTW, WTF is up with laser shows lately? I haven't been dazzled for quite some time now. I used to see the coolest laser shows when Glow was at Zei Club, then Insomnia had a few good nights, and now it just seems to have fizzled out. Nation has been lacking for quite some time as well.

What gives?

(Sorry for the off topic but I just got upset thinking about this!)
