Does Pioneer CDJ800 play MP3

There are many sites now offering mp3 downloads. Can the CDJ800 play these?

Nope. No Pioneer CDJ model plays mp3s - however I hear the DVJ *may* be able to play mp3s in the future (possible firmware upgrade and such).

It's not that big of deal - just burn em to cd as waves/audio cd.

Actually the pioneer DMP-555 Plays mp3s, it also plays cds, mp3s on a sd card, and has the ability to be used as a software cd player controller for the included DJ Booth software.

It's a good deck if your main goal is to get a more modern version of the cdj-700. (btw, the jog wheel isn't touch sensitive, but still has scratching, imo it gets the job done very well)

That's why I said "Pioneer CDJ"... the DMP is a different model/type.

But yeah the DMP is the only Pioneer model that I know of that *currently right out of the box* plays mp3's.

Don't get carried away with MP3 features. If you still wish to use it, you probably can't use your discs at clubs (because there REALLY aren't a lot of clubs with MP3 cd players).

not to mention the quality of mp3 is not suitable for club systems. Your little cubicle yes but not in clubs.

What do you need .mp3 for? Do you plan to mix a set using just 2 CD's with 30 songs on each CD? Thats pretttttttty lame.

Not to get into a mp3 vs vinyl argument - but what's wrong with that? As long as the audio quality is up-to-par, don't matter if it's 2 CDs with craploads of tracks or craploads of CDs with 1 track on each...

Im not disputing the fact of using .mp3's, but why are yall so stingy to put 3-4 tracks on 1 CD instead of 30.

Secondly, if your using 30 songs on each CD... your set is obviously pre-planned because you have to arrange the tracks onto each CD so that you can mix in and out, again - lame.

Putting some thought into your set should not be regarded as "lame" Also, if you burn 30 songs onto a disk, and then make a second copy of that disc, you eliminate the "oh shit the cd with that track is already in the drive" problem...you just grab the second copy out of your book and pop it in the drive. Not rocket science.

EDIT: I still dont think mp3s are club material, simply for sound quality reasons.

Yea, but preplanning like that takes away from the creativity and art that is DJing. Most people preplan the first few tracks that they spin so they can warm themselves and the crowd up, as well as the read the crowd and see how they react. Other than that, the set should be drawn out, not outlined, than filling in the colors.

How is having 2 cds with 30 tracks each, different from having a record box with 60 records?? other than the obvious sound quality etc type arguements...
