each time I hear a song that i lsten to at home, if i hear it in a cllub it sounds really different. does anyone know if club speakers have a braoder frequency range comperd to listen to music on DJ headphones for example listening to vinyl? To me it seems that mid frequency sounds are greatly amplified/clearer in a club. especailly something i ve noticed with techno. id like to know so that i get take it into concideration for my first gig.

no, you're just drunk in clubs!
Probably cuz in clubs the speakers go much louder and that makes the music sound much better. The frequencies don't have much to to with it... you can only hear freqencies between 20 & 20000 hz. That's the range of normal speakers, also at home. Allthough expensive speakers can go lower than the 20 hz and that gives you the strange feeling in your tummy

i dunno anytihng technical but i rather hear a song in a club because its way louder and there are speakers all around you and not just ur two pc speakers or ur headphones.
listenin to some songs i think "cant wait to hear this being blasted at the disco"... i never doo though stupid italian dance crap..
well, good clubs spend thousands of dollars on their sound system
on home system you spend hundreds of dollars on your sound system (if your lucky to have the money) or normally less
theres the difference

I find the music in clubs is often too boomy and you can't hear the mids and highs very well because of the noise from the clubbers.

i find its the other way round. i find that its the snap of the kick thats emphasised more. depends on what club your in and the acoustics as well.

Definitely better sound @ home..
NO distractions from all over, no crossing soundwaves, etc..
Take a $30 radio shack sound level meter and test it @ home and in a club.. U will probably get much higher SPL levels in the club, but quality will probably be better home, IF: 1) you have a great amplifier, great speakers than go down to 80 hertz and great SUbwoofer that covers 80 hertz and LOWER frequencies..

yea, thats not always good though. one of my favourite tracks of the year is DJ Danjo & Rob Styles - Duende (Signum Remix) and i have heard it live twise (once at global gathering and once at trance generation) and both times it sounded rubbish because the kick was just drowning out the rest of the sound, though it sounds fine at home.

You just have to love it when you can feel that ultra low bass just going through your whole body!
