Question IMPORTANT Poll for Laptop Producers

I know most of you laptop producers, whether using apple or pc, use an external sound card module or some kind of usb audio thing. Creative Labs has announced a new PCIMA card called the Audigy 2 ZS notebook that fits onto the side of your laptop and acts as a soundcard.

http://www.creative.com/corporate/p...ection=8thoct04

It basically includes all the features of its Audigy 2 predecessors with 7.1 ch sound and the 24bit/96khz stuff. And it's going to be about 130 bucks in cost.

Any use for professionals like us?

well having a 7.1 surround feature is kind of useless for producing music which is nice to listen to in stereo, but most of the time is played out in mono.

Yes, 7.1 is pretty much completely useless for production. What is appealing about that, however, is that it comes with low latency ASIO drivers constructed for the card. And while I don't know much about sampling rate, 24bit/96khz is good for production from what I hear.

Still, I wish I had a desktop.

Edit: 7.1 is a version of surround sound. It means there are 7 speakers and 1 subwoofer. 6.1 means six speakers, 5.1 means 5, etc. Useful for gaming and watching movies, pointless for production (unless you're underworld and pulling some crazy ass 5.1 shit).
