Love Parade San Francisco

Ask anyone who went, and they'll tell you it was far better than they could have imagined. With a lot of skeptics worrying about low attendance since there wasn't a lot of major promotion - some people thinking as few as 10,000 people - ten-of-thousands, possibly hundreds-of-thousands came out. My guess is between 100,000 and 200,000, but it could have even been more when considering those who just roamed in and out throughout the day.

Not bad for an event with not that much promotion, eh?

Anyhow, vibe was awesome. Everyone was just out to have a great time and that we did. The crowd filled the streets of downtown San Francisco as far as you could see when looking either direction along the route, until until we marched onto the resting ground where the festival took place. Booths were rocking, crowds were jumping. There was love everywhere!!

What was great was through all this, the event wasn't overshadowed by some superstar DJ performing, unless you consider the likes of Sandra Collins, D:Fuse, and Hybrid as superstar DJs.

Being as they are going to jump on getting everything planned for next year much earlier this time around, expect to see a lot of bigger, better things in 2005! Chances are there WILL be some major talent next year as budgets will be raised, bigger afterparties will be thrown, and more people will surely come after the great success this year's event was!

My pics here

Tons of pics here

Was that before or after Love Parade? Estimates before were around that range. I am trying to find articles of the event, but can't seem to find any.

I read that article, and I can tell you without a doubt that's a bullshit number.

_Maybe_ 15,000 at the beginning of the parade, but by the time the parade ended and the festival was going full-force, there were A LOT more than 15,000 people.

I've been to events with 60,000 people and going by the size of the festival and how it was relatively packed, there seemed to be a lot more people at the LP than there were at the events I've been to.

And when I give my number, I am taking into account those who came and left. Know tons of people who came for the first few hours then left to prepare for the afterparties. Know others who weren't there at the beginning and came in the early evening to partake in the festival. I'm sure there were a ton more people who were doing things like this.

Maybe 100,000 people didn't come out when it was all said and done, but the number is a lot closer to 100,000 than 15,000.

Dave

do you think that this parade will (or already) create(d) a more positive view on the EDM in the US/San francisco?

Nope, not this time cause there was so little media coverage of it.

Really disappointing, but I think it's due to the media not thinking it would turn out to be anything big.

Wait until next year, i am sure the media will be ALL over it.

Dave

Ahhh, I only thought about 30.000 to 45.000 peeps showed at the most. If 100.000 people showed, the street along with the all the sidewalks would have been wall to wall people. More likely 30.000.

Next year, I do expect MORE media coverage, hopefully on a national basis. As for this event creating a more positive view on the EDM, it was like a knight in shining armor for all of us! I haven't heard anything negative yet about the event or the after party events either. Good times had by all.

-Although on a sidenote, if this was held in any other city...I really don't think it could have gone off as well as it did.

Kids dying at raves will always be covered by news more than peaceful events like this. It sucks but thats the media for ya.

You're confusing instantaneous count with overall count.
