hmm.... how to spend my money...

You know, having money is almost as nerve wracking as not having it, when you're fickle.

I've got about $1000 saved up. My steady source of income (life guarding a pool) just ran out, and between school and everything else I don't know when I'll get another steady job, or how much money I'd have left over to spend on records, or anything else for that matter.

I had been saving for a CDJ-1000, but with future income looking sketchy I'm considering otherwise. Before anyone suggests the CDJ-800 - I've considered it, but decided that if I'm going to spend that much money I'm going to get the best, since I'm after its tricks and features more than just a digital turntable (I wonder how many more CDJs and FX units Pioneer has sold now that Zabiela has gotten big...).

I've been thinking just buying a shit load of records, among a few other things (namely an X-Box and Halo 2). I haven't bought any records in almost 4 months, and I'm beginning to reach a point where I feel it's time to start handing out demos, but at the moment my collection is too thin and diversified to play any sort of proper, flowing set.

Shit, I just can't decide. I know that a good collection of tunes is the most important thing for any DJ to have, but on the other hand I really like all the crazy tricks you can do with a CD turntable and don't know if I'll ever be able to save up another grand any time soon.

Hm...give me the money, LOL. I wish I had $1000 and didn't know what to do with it. Anyway, I say get the cdj-800 and the xbox and halo2, I know I'd be happy if I had those things right now.

Well if I had a grand to 'spend wisely' I would have a hard time aswell... considering that I want to upgrade to Techs, get a new mixer (Denon or Ecler), get a CD player Pio or Denon.. and blow a shitload on records.... I don't think I am the right person to give you any advice, but my recommendation to you would be to go with the CDJ and screw the xbox... why waste your time playing game's when you could be DJing?

Records you can pick up a few here and there and be content, 2-3 a week keeps my 'addiction' in check.. speaking of which... *twitches* its been a few weeks....

I gotta go..... *runs out the door screaming for a hit*

Well I've already got brand new shiny techs and a vestax 275.

If I still had a job I'd just go for the CDJ in a heartbeat, but to be honest I don't know how many records I'll be able to buy in the next 4 or 5 months, if any.

*disclaimer* Not intended to start mp3 vs vinyl wars *disclaimer*

Well how many records are you gonna have to buy when you can burn whatever mp3's (converted to wav) to cd??

Did you ask yourself that?

Well I've already concluded that I don't really want to spin burned mp3's, because I'm serious about DJ'ing, and when it comes time for me to spin parties, I don't want to be spinning mp3s, which aren't very good quality on a large sound system - not to mention it's quite illegial and unethical.

Also, because I'll have only one CDJ I'll have to mix out of it into a record no matter what - at the moment I'm after it mostly for its tricks, maybe a few bootlegs or tracks of my own here and there - I still prefer vinyl because of its warm sound.
