think about it. conservatism, keeping things as they are because they beleive things as they are is the best. progressivism, on the other hand, believing that things could be better.
consider two examples. technological innovations (such as the internet, etc), come from progressives because they are willing to experiment and believe that existing technologies can be improved. that's just one example. consider the us itself. the conservatives were aligned with the british crown. it was the liberals or progressives who wanted change (that's an entirely different topic though), not the conservatives. didn't some flee to canada (canadian folks can back me up on this)
when you consider my definitions ask yourself is president bush really conservative? a true conservative would not have invaded iraq. that is very progressive (a failed experiment though). |
I don't even know where to start on how incorrect your post actually is. Political ideologies do not translate into "real life" quite as cleanly as you seem to suggest.
