Ask him if he ever goes out, ive seen people who are not into EDM transform OVERNIGHT into 'trance addicts on first times in a club' etc.
i also transformed that way, i only liked trance before it, then i got my first time out in a club. The weekend after that i was busy downloading trancesets etc etc. Now that i think of it, that was a long time ago... time flies...

It won't work, he's into metal and stuff and won't even try trance because it's "not real music". His loss, I say.

How can he listen to some long haired dude in a black tee that hasn't washed for a week who screams into a microphone "rarrararararraraarrarara"?

if he says this he hasn't understood anything to Music.

Jean-Michel Jarre once said "it's not the music which is electronic, but only the instruments"

the music has to be composed/worked, and a lot of trance work is much more evolved than metal music...

trust me i've been discussing/arguing a lot of times with metal/rock lovers.

Just to add some spice to the whole thing, I forwarded this to him. The comment he gave me was "if you say a lot of trance is much evolved than metal music you really haven't listened to metal at all"

talk him about ferry's collab with a musical composer... make him listen to the melody/chords progression. After i gave a sample to one of my friend he said "ok, it's too much evovled for me".

And that is a good reply. I don't know you, but I can't say shit about metal since all I know are AC/DC and some Metallica stuff. So after all this is just a matter of personal tastes, what means that this discussion is pointless. Leave him with his "long haired dudes" and he'll leave you with your "chime music".
