cubase vst automation

to all Cubase users:

(1) I need a ( best freeware) Filter Plugin with Lowpass Filter either Direct X or VST.

(2) I need to automate this plugin, especially the Cut Off Frequence since I am working very often with loops

Years ago, I got an Cubase VST32 ( v5 ) OEM with my soundcard. There is quite ugly manual with the most important functions, but I can't find anything concerning automation.

Can somebody give me a hint ?

Cubase SX 2.0+ comes with the Tonic filter... I've sidechained audio to my Virus|Powercore's filter to compare and Tonic sounds just as good...

KarmaFX has a good, simple, lowpass filter for free - http://www.sync.dk/~karmafx/.

To automate this depends on how you use it. For example, let's say that you are putting it on an audio channel as an insert. Once you have done that, click on the bottom left corner of the box with the track's name on the sequencer (you'll see a tiny plus sign there). This will open up a new little box below the audio track with a line on it. Click where it says volume, and you'll see that it says #:KarmaFX Filter (where # is the insert channel you put it on) with a list of all the paramaters you can edit on the VST. If you don't see any KarmaFX stuff, go to where it says more parameters and you'll see it.

Now, once you've selected the parameter you want to edit you have to set up the automation. The line to the right of where you selected your parameter is the level of the parameter as it goes through the song. First, click the R (read enable) button for the track (to the left of the parameter name), and this will turn the line blue and you can manipulate it. Just left click places on the line and you will get dots that you can drag to change its shape.

Hope that helps!
