Exclamation PS2 help, HELP!!!

Greetings fellow TA's!!!!

Ok guys, I have a problem with my PS2. I have one of the older models (one of the first few to come out) and Sony found out after a while it has a problem. It often has disk read errors with PS2 games that have a blue colored CD or anything else thats not DVD. My main problem is that IT WONT READ MY PSX games!!! I have so many games on PSX that I really want to play again and my PS2 does NOT read them!!! It fails to load! I looked online like a year ago and found out that I may be able to fix it by opening up the PS2 and "twisting" this white thingy next to the lense. I tried it.... IT WORKED. A month later, my PS2 started failing again. I kept twisting the circular white thingy up until now, but now my PS2 is dead and will no longer accept PSX cd's or PS2 cd's that are not made from DVD disks. I have SSX and its not, as you all know, made from a DVD disk, so the bottom is blueish colored and that game will not load. I'm damn sure there are other TA hardcore gamers out there that have an old modeled PS2 and have the same problem, probably even fixed it by now.

So I turn to you, fellow TA's, and ask of your help. Is there ANY OTHER WAY I can fix my PS2 rather than just send it to Sony? Besides... I broke the warrenty by opening up my PS2 (it was expired so whatever... looool). If anyone knows a way to fix this... do tell me... you'll save my life

There is a huge lesson to be learned and that is never play around with the lens or anything remotely close to the lens of ps2. My friend i hate to say but you have no choice but to buy one. yours is dead. DEAD. and most likely, you attempting to play the games on it is causing damage to the games. next time, buy and extended warranty or just let sony fix it.

seriously if you have some cash , just get a new console (a modded one if you're into you know what)

It'd probably be cheaper and certainly easier just to buy a replacement PS2. Not only will it read all your discs, but it's practically silent too. No more jet engine loudness!
