File sharing (peer to peer) legal???

This thread might be closed...

anyhow
I'm taking American Popular Music, at my college UC santa cruz, my professor Lieberman says it is legal as of right now for peer to peer file sharing. He is advocating us to download some music while it is still legal for the class.

Comments?

btw.. TA i dont mean for TA to encourage file sharing.

I live in the US and it’s on the news pretty much everyday that the RIAA is now suing someone new that is downloading music. If it’s legal I have been living under a rock.

Both sharing and downloading is legal in Norway atm. It's possible that it will get illegal in the future though, not quite sure on the status on that.

Here several agency's (Brein Institute) are busy with a witch hunt against illegal filesharing/downloading.... I admit I do download....but I also bought three cd's this week (last week five)...so I do support artists (I guess).... Mostly I download to check artists out whether I like them or not....

But here in Holland it is kinda concidered illegal....

well if you wanna download NON-copyrighted material, go a head and download and share as much as you want.

But distributing copy-righted material is still illegal
