Black Dragon & Mike Foyle @ ETS-Global (11.10.2004)
Here comes another episode of the show by Black-Dragon
ILTA - ISRAEL'S TRANCE ADDICTION #022
On radio - ETS-GLOBAL
With guest - Mike Foyle

For all of Mike's life he has been interested in music,
brought up by musicians as it is a huge part of his family.
Mike's passion for music has definitely inherited from and is still influenced by his dad,
who is a very musical and talented man who Mike is very similar to in a lot of ways.
He plays Piano, Guitar, Bass and electric cello, and plays in a couple of bands as well.
At the young age of 6 Mike began learning to play the violin,
which he hated with a passion!
However it was this is where most of his understanding of music
and the theory evolved from and now with the benefit of hindsight does not regret it at all.
However after Mike turned 15, he quit the violin, and doesn't play it much at all anymore.
Mike didn't want to give up music all together and began to
experiment on his own and taught himself the basics of technology-based production.
This was his new way of expressing himself and developing his creativity.
Mike became extremely involved with computerised music and it has
become a huge part of his life,
spending hours at a time working on it and experimenting with different styles and effects.
After a while Mike became very interested in synthesis and sound design,
and started making some really crazy tunes.
He experimented with a vast amount of software-based programs before toying with hardware.
Most of what Mike has learned was discovered from these different pieces of software.
Mike used all the programs he could find from basic sequencers and
looping programs like Fruity Loops, through to the likes of Reason,
and then onto the advanced sequencers and production utilities such as Cakewalk,
Cubase VST, SX and SX 2.01, the latter becoming Mike's current favoured sequencer.
The software side of things was helped a lot by a course in music technology,
which Mike started at college in September 2002,
where his previous experience with Cubase helped a lot throughout the course.
When Mike become confident in producing and happy with the music that he was coming up with,
he started to take DJing a bit more seriously as he saw that it would be a good way of getting himself heard as well as
having an opportunity to play his own tracks during sets.
Which takes us to the present day, where Mike seems to be progressing rapidly
and things are starting to look hopeful for his future in the world of music.
