kaern is an british/irish term taken from celtic language i think.. it means big pile of rocks. they are used to navigate safe pathways through treaturous mountains in snow or other bad conditions.

just to point out something that you probably already know, kaern turned is a mashup between ben pound's "turned" and james holden's "kaern" which is supposed to be an ambient track, i haven't heard any of the originals

on his fear of a silver planet cd they are listed as seperate tracks, kaern is just a short piece of ambient music he was using for intros and such. most of the mashup track is ben pound

True, the mashup is more Turned than Kaern, but the original James Holden - Kaern is gorgeous, far better than Kaern Turned. Amazing 5-minute, beatless track. I wish he'd release more like it.

it is truly class. holden definitely should do more ambient stuff, just to use as tools and stuff

and i forgot to mention, as well as being path markers on mountains, they also used to bury warriors under big kaerns (i think). not that it matters
