efx-500 mixer compatability?

I currently have a djm-500 mixer and am looking to buy a efx-500 too add to my current setup. 2x technics 1200 (already own)+ 2 cd decks of undecided origin on the way before xmas(leaning towards cdj1000mkII).

My question: With the djm-500 having no volume control over the fx will everything I do off the efx-500 be run through the send/return and thus have no volume control over any of the fx? Or is there a better way to setup the efx-500? ie. running it between the mixer and the amp, or running it as a line-in if that's possible? I may be looking at getting a new mixer in the next year. What mixers are the most compatiable with an efx unit? I've heard some people have had problems with non-poineer mixers and an efx unit. I'd really like to get away from the djm-500/djm-600 and into something a little higher end. xone series perhaps.

thanks!

I'm no expert on it, but if you run it between your mixer and amp you will have to deal with it only working on your master out.

Btw, the cdj1000mkII is a VERY good choice. I love mine to death.

dont run it from your mixer to the amp, if you do you can forget about the delay and reverb, aux is the only way to go

sorry, no.

i have mine wired up on the master signal, all the effects work perfectly.

to be honest, when combined with a djm500 you may as well have it on master output, as if you want an effect on a specific channel you can do this better with the built-in effects unit on the djm mixer. you will also have better control of your levels that way, as you can control levels on the efx500 with ease.

However, by hooking it up to the master, you loose some of the stuff you can do w/ the efx-500. For instance, you could pan the mids of the recording you are mixing out of while leaving the lows, highs and all of the record you are mixing in untouched. Everytime i have hooked mine up to a Pio. mixer, i put it in the send/returns, set the levels on the efx-500 to that you cant tell when it is on or off, and forget about it as it now blends into the mixer.
