Bush and Fiscal Conservatives

Bush and the conservatives are always bashing Kerry and the Democrats as big government and high taxes, but this is a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black. Bush has run up the deficit faster than any president in history and the federal government has expanded not shrunk under his administration. How can anyone who calls himself a fiscal conservative ever vote for this idiot?

Bush also likes to rejoice how he has cut taxes, but in reality he has raised the likelihood of higher taxes and government cut backs. Conservatives usually counter that this will force the government cut the fat out of its budget. Unfortunately the programs that usually get cut are the ones that have the weakest advocates on capital hill. Let's face powerful lobbyist for big business (tobacco, oil, drugs...) are going to keep their pork while the little guy, social services (welfare, mentally disadvantaged...) are going to have to make the sacrifice.

Bush tax cuts are like if I took your credit card ran up billions of dollars of debit on it, handed back your card with $300 dollars that I charged off of it, then told you don't worry that in the future you'll be earning more money and should be able to pay it off without a problem. Why am I so confident that you'll be able to pay off that gigantic debt? I guess I'm optimist or an idiot. Hmmm I wonder which one.

erm...wrong.

what's all this? opinions?

opinions are like assholes - everyone has one.

now, go vote for Bush, and quit complaining. If i got a dollar for every lib that bashed Bush and complained and blamed Bush for their problems, i'd be a billionaire and could probably pay off the national debt myself.

Great this is what I waiting for an unqualified opinion. Let me analyze what you just said. I'm wrong. Why am I wrong? Oh that's right because it's my opinion and because everyone has one that makes mine wrong. Wow, that's one of the most illogical retorts I've heard.

Actually you would be wrong since national debt is over 7 trillion dollars http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/. That would mean being a billionaire wouldn't enable able you to pay off the debt. Oh what was the reason I should quit complaining and vote for Bush? Why are the strongest supporters of bush the dumbest?

son, what makes you think your opinion is qualified? Only thing i said you were wrong on was the comparison of tax cuts to racking up a personal credit card. like most libs, you just took something, and blew it out of proportion.

you also missed the greater point of my saying about paying off the debt. had to do more with all liberals just complaining and acusing others all the time... and as far as calling me dumb, you don't seem to be doing any better than me. now go back to whoring the COR.

Be Cool!

Keep in mind that Bill Clinton balanced the budget without a single Republican vote and left office with a surplus. Of course Republicans complain and blame the current economy on Clinton. Republicans additionally went after Clinton in a real estate investigation that wound up trying to impeach him over an affair and even complained that he did nothing to prevent terrorism and September 11th was his admistration's fault. Complaining goes on both sides.

I qualified my opinion with facts (bush has increased the debt and the size of the government) and then compared his fiscal recklessness to doing the same on an individual level. You still haven't explained how that is in your own words 'wrong'. Let me put it more in proportion, I take your credit card and charge $100,000 hand you back a hundred dollar bill that I charged off of it and expect you to thank me for it. If you want to complain about blowing things out of proportion how about your comment about the national debt?

What does being a liberal have to do with the right to criticize a president for being fiscally irresponsible? Why did I call you dumb? Because you’re making dumb glib comments. You don't even know the difference between a billion and trillion (imhop that is dumb). Don't post a reply unless you have something intelligent to say. I actually welcome differing opinions when they are backed up with coherent logic. Don't expect me to get your "larger point" when all you can do is make emotionally charged statements. This thread is about the president's fiscal policy. Why don't you stay on topic if you want to make some other point or don't have anything intelligent to share about this subject then don't post.

i suggest you do the same. this comment along with your reply to my recent post offered nothing new.... it's a 2 lane road.

dude, you're correct - complaining does go on both sides. though, i haven't heard republicans complaining about clinton and the state of the economy under clinton's administration. it was good, and then came the tech bust followed by 9/11. no president had control over that... and the worst of it came while bush was in office, though he had no control over what happened then either... and the economy has recovered much since then and is still recovering. today's economy cannot be compared to that of late 90's, though when compared to that of the 70's, 80's and most of 90's, we're doing excellent.

do you think al gore wouldve have been able to do better for the economy in the last 4 years if he was the president?

JM: This is my last reply to you because you're really a waste of time. The only defense you can mount to bush's bad fiscal policy is that liberals complain a lot so we should just vote for him. You sound so juvenile I'm curious have you graduated high school?

I've pretty much given up on the political forum because only a few members can speak intelligently and actually have their own opinion (occrider, mropus, and a few others). The rest of you knuckleheads can only regurgitate right wing media sources or fire back glib one-liners.
