back in the day i was a bartender for 4 months at a local hot spot. i hated every second of it.

I bartend on weekends. I was hired as a porter due to lack of experience, but because I had good character and work ethics, I started bartending soon after. It's a lot of fun. You meet A LOT of cool/wierd/different people and you can make real good money on busy nights.

One of the funnest jobs I've had (don't know wtf enferno is talking about), but working 7 days a week can take a toll on ya. But if it's a part-time thing with no other commitments, I say go for it, man.

my ex does that, she went to a specialised school and in 3 months was a certified bartender

you can make a truckload of money with a job like that, like 300$ in a night depending on the crowd..

i was toying with that idea myself last night. i work all day and then go to school at night, and at this rate, i won't get my degree in 3 years. it'll take more like almost 5 (i can only handle so many classes at night). i just feel like i have no time for myself any more, so i was thinking after the holidays, i might start looking into maybe cocktail waitressing on weekends at a night club or something and taking more classes during the day (and quitting my day job..yay ).


i tried working at a restaurant for a while last year, and that sucked. it was an upscale place, and i still didn't make that much...people are cheap bastards when they eat out. i think it's better to work at a busy night spot or at a night club because the gratuity is included and you're guaranteed to make money cuz people are drinking. plus you meet lots of people i'm sure. oh yea, and i heard that bartending license is a waste of money. you don't really need it. i mean, i'm sure it helps, but i don't think it's a deal breaker. if you have the personality and you pick up on things fast, i'm sure you'll get a job bartending.

I am a bartender on weekends. It is a really fun job and you make a lot of money. I don't know what the bar scene is like where you live but here you need one of two things. 1. Experience bartending other places or 2. You have to know someone to get into the mix. I got my certificate about 3 yrs ago and started working at a night club. They wouldn't let me bartend because of my lack of experience. About a year ago a friend of mine offered me a job as a bartender because he knew that I worked in a night club for numerous years. Since then I have left that bar and now work at another bar. It was hard getting the job because most places want people that they know. Good Luck if you go through with the process!

why is bartending such a big thing in america? lol as if u have to get a license thats bollox. all u have to do is learn some cocktails and pour some drinks, hardly rocket science! u do get payed a fucking shit load for it over there tho with ur culture of tipping.

over here people on bars dont get payed much but any1 can get a job pretty much instantly
