Democratic MeltDown: Kick Gays Out? Abortion?

When the going gets tough, the liberals become cannibals amongst themselves...the finger pointing has begun.

From the biggest Democratic Board online: Democrats know Moral Values is hurting them since Gay marriage was on the ballot in 11 states and abortion issue definitely brought out the vote. So what do they decide? Some are thinking of kicking out Gays and abortionists!!...LOL!

Talk about sad confused animals with no sense of direction
Now Pro-life Democrats are reconsidering their party alignment

Should gays & lesbians and their supporters leave the Democrats?

Im wondering, for the good of the party, if the gay community and their supporters should leave the Democratic Party so the Dems wont be tarred with this "poor moral values" brush.

These big big defeats of gay marriage should be a real signal that the vast majority of people in the US do not like lesbians or gays and what they are about, so heck, why should the Democrats be saddled with this alabtross of supporting what most people think is immoral and wrong.

Maybe the gays and lesbians could join the Greens or something. It seems kind of selfish to ask the Democrats to sacrifice their political chances and other worthy political goals (like health care for all, education aid, better wages and conditions, etc) just because they are pro-gay rights.

I hate to say this, but maybe this has to be done in order for the Dems to win again.

I don't want the Democrat pty to be about gay marriage and abortion rights

It should be prominantly about eliminating crony capitalism, maintaining the financial security blanket for all Americans (Social Security and Medicare), fiscal responsibility, maintaining good relations with the world while keeping America safe, and, hopefully, driving out the corporate special interests from being able to bribe the government.

Though I favor civil unions, I don't give a rip about gay marriage. It is not something that I would argue passionately for, however unthreatening it is to the institution of marriage and to the faith of others. And I am ambivalent about abortion, save in cases of rape, incest, death of mother. These are not traditional issues that are the hallmark of the Democratic party. They are "moral issues" for both the far right and the far left.

And I don't want people deciding the fate of this nation based on their own personal "moral values", be they the ignorant former Democrats-now-Republicans in the Red states, or the ultra-liberals who want gay marriage and Roe v.Wade to be prominant issues that the Democratic party stands for.

26. Doesn't matter if Dem Party supports gay marriage, it still gets smeared

...with it. Middle America sees gay marriages on TV and thinks, 'Dem Party'. This issue, and the guns issue, turned out to be BIG. I blame [not nice prejorative deleted by JenyEliza] Kerry for the guns problem. In the primary, he said, "I'm not going to be the NRA candidate." [expletive deleted by JenyEliza] fighting guns. America is never going to ban possession of guns anyway. The "assault rifle" ban was a joke. The work the same way as hunting rifles-- on trigger pull per shot. They only "look" bad. We could have actually done something about the lethality of those guns by banning high capacity clips ONLY. But no, we had to be [not nice prejorative deleted by JenyEliza] and stir up gun owners!

Talk about the Democratic Party not having a backbone....Kicking gays and abortionists out the party ..would be hilarious.

Pro-Life Democrats: Party Should Moderate Abortion Stance After Election Loss Email this article

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A national group for pro-life Democrats says the Democratic Party needs to moderate its rigid stance in favor of abortion following Tuesday's election defeats.

Pro-abortion nominee John Kerry failed in his attempt to defeat President Bush and pro-abortion Democrats lost numbers key House and Senate races. In addition, Republicans picked up control of in three state legislative bodies. In almost all cases, pro-life Republicans defeated pro-abortion Democrats.

"We are hopeful the national party will reassess its pro-abortion stance after the disastrous results of Tuesday night," Democrats for Life director Kristin Day said. "They are costing us elections and abandoning our founding values of protecting and advocating for those who need a helping hand. At the top of that list should be helping protect the rights of the unborn."

Calling Tuesday's election "one of the worst performances in recent memory," Day pointed to numerous election victories for pro-life Democrats as evidence that a position in favor of abortion is hurting most party candidates.

Democrats who took a pro-life position won a governor's race in West Virginia, made runoffs in two Congressional seats in Louisiana and won a host of legislative seats in places such as Iowa, Missouri and Michigan.

“The good news is pro-life Democrats are winning campaigns," Day said. "Pro-life Democrats win because they withstand the pressure of the national party and represent the values of their local communities."

Polls show that Democratic party leaders don't represent grassroots Democrats on abortion.

While a January 2003 Zogby poll revealed 43 percent of Democrats oppose all or most abortions, a CBS News poll indicated that delegates to the Democratic convention in Boston that nominated Kerry were twice as likely as Democratic voters to support abortion in all cases.

"When Democrats take a stand and protect the rights of the unborn, we win elections. When Democrats campaign on a pro-abortion platform, they lose," Day explained.

Kerry's pro-abortion position lost him the endorsement of the national group and two of its affiliates, including the Florida chapter, refused to back his candidacy because of his pro-abortion view.

Exit polls show that President Bush received the support of 80 percent of the 22 percent of voters who say they made their decision based on moral issues such as abortion. Likely, many Democrats supported the president because of his pro-life policies.

Democrats For Life of America currently has 32 state chapters with plans to expand the group into additional states by the end of they year. Several pro-life Democrats in Congress serve as official advisors.

Asking the Democrat's to change their stance on abortion is like asking a zebra to change it's stripes, or asking the wind not to blow.
Abortion is the primary reason the party exists. It is the biggest thing they stand for, everything else is negotiable.Ain't gonna happen. Democrats protecting the rights of the unborn is like a Nazi mission to save Jews.

Why not?

The Republican party already kicked out all the rationalists and fiscal conservatives.
