Mate,
This effect is normal on this mixer.
What you have to do is, whenever you want to use the filter, turn the knob entire to the right (so it's all the way up), set your effects-upfader to the proper setting (if you want a high-pitched whistle as the filter is going on then you set it all the way to the top, but if you don't want any kind of whistle, set it to the bottom, blah blah blah).
This effect on this mixer is great because you can actually control the filter (instead of having to find the right set of bars in order to make it work). Plus, after a day on that mixer, you'll be so used to it.
It's a great mixer for two channels and the effects are wicked as hell. I had one, but I didn't like the crossfader (I think I'm the only good dj out there that still uses the crossfader), so just watch out for that.
Other than that, just make sure you don't kick the hell out of those effects... they can be pretty painful on the audience if you use them all the time. Highly addicting.

Yea I gotta say I was around his house lastnight messin on the mixer, and I'm really impressed with the effects, beats the living shit out of the DJX, would just be nice if it was 4 channells and abit biiger for more room, the rest of the mixer is standard for that price range, seemed to have good EQs the crossfader was actually nice, it is pretty smooth, but we don't use the crossfader much anyway, but have to say, if your looking for a relatively cheap mixer with good effects, this is the one.
Oh yea, I did find it weird how the filter is backwards, dunno why they did that, but it is nice how you can control how the effects work, will make for some interesting effects.

Yes yes, the DXM06 definitely rocks a cock.
As for the echo effects:
Sometimes I branch out and spin a little house (my girlfriend is nuts over house music) and it's really fun to bust out the echo on the break down/build-up.
Give it a shot. Piss about with it, and you'll be sure to have some good times on it.
The one thing, if I may advise, is to set the effects knob to the desired bpm, set the effects upfader all the way down, and then turn on the effects. You shouldn't hear any effects.
Now, of course, this is not the trick... but the trick is, on the break-down/build-up move the upfader up and play around with it that way.
Overall, it really is a great mixer... I probably should have just got my crossfader replaced. Oh well, happy with DJM 3000.
