Are DJs Artists?

Are DJs Artists?
Hey would you say a DJ is an artist? or is a producer more of an artist? or are both DJs and producers artists ? and why?

Thanks

Toodles,

Bobbie-Jo

P.S. its for a school project.

Dj's are artists since they actually go public with the music they play. Producers aren't really artists, since they make their music in the studio and don't really go public with it. But lately it seems that every DJ has to produce tracks, and every producer has to DJ to become popular. So I guess they're both artists if they combine both jobs...

You can make everything an art... So yeah, DJ's can be artists... but they're not by definition imo...

Producers are by definition artists, since they always create from their own imagination... (unless they're covering ofcuz )

However... DON'T confuse artist with entertainer... a lot of people do...

A DJ is always an entertainer, as he is pleasing a crowd (or tries to)... A producer who lives in his studio, isn't directly entertaining ppl... But indirectly he is... So I guess it depends on your interpretation wheter a producer is an entertainer or not...

I just did

It all depends on your terminology and your point of view I guess...Artist is to me what entertainer is to Ei, but we both kinda mean the same thing in essence.
