As much as Verizon not having any good phones, I love it since it's reliable pretty much whever I used it (Bay Area, Vegas, Philly, DC, Boston, Miami, Tampa, NYC) and only had a problem getting a signal at the very end of the Florida keys

verizon has a phone or two out that you can use with the CDMA networks in the US and the GSM networks overseas
