I read this when it was posted on another board a while ago, it's a pretty good read. I agree with most of the stuff said and can relate being a geek.

This article is very stupid and was probably written by an ugly nerd. In high school popularity depends purely on how you look and not how smart you are.

I think the formula for popularity is something like looks x acting cool. You could be a good looking geek and not be popular if you act like an ass. There are other facors at play as well. What about popular fat/ugly chicks?

its not true.. being smart doesnt make you unpopular at all. its just the smart kids that care more about being the teachers best friend and getting home to play yu gi oh card games than socializing and getting to know other people.

again,,,, the author doesnt say that being smart makes you unpopular (especially not the way you put it).

He says being smart you choose not to be popular becaseu you're all about the future and getting somewhere in life and being succesful. Which is the same as saying you choose to study and do nerdy stuff instead of balancing studying and socialising to maybe be popular. There are popular kids that are smart. When these nerds leave high school they have to learn to socialise sometime and that's most likely college.

edit: Yeah, some of you need to actually READ the article, then you might understand that the idiotic points you're bringing up are pretty much indicative of either your a)laziness b)lack of substantial comprehension of what the point of the essay is. The essay does seem a bit rooted in bitterness, but I think the author did a nice job of never having self-pity; it gets much better as you read on further. Give it a shot.
