if you goto Armin's website, click on the studio link at the bottom and you can see pics of everything he uses, including lists of synths, processors, effects, etc.

many of the producers have laptops to use when they are travelling between DJ gig's.... so they have time

Some people will tell you Tiesto doesn't even produce his own tracks any more. I think its bullshit, but he probably does pay people to do the boring/tedious stuff like mastering.

Also, its not about the equipment. These guys just have lots of experience producing. Equipment helps if you know how to use it well but there are other things much more important than equipment.

Theres a few topics a pages back about producers studios you might find interesting. I'm too lazy to find them though.

Well, I remember reading a Tiesto interview about a year and a half ago where he said he's working with an audio engineer on all of his tracks, and that this guy comes up with some amazing stuff. So in all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy just gives Tiesto 500 presets, he picks a few that he likes and comes up with some melody and a basic structure, then this guy builds the track around that. Either way, the fact that he's working with a sound engineer alone says that the "tiesto sound" is not actually his sound at all =P

unless im mistaken theres very few artists who accutally do 100% of their tracks and theres very few record lables taht dont attach shit themselfs to tracks either mastering or eqing or compression..... so really most all artists do it so whats the big deal if you still compose the melody then your still doing 90% of the work.... yeah its kinda funny...... armin on sevral occsions aswell stated he works with a composer friend and doesnt really give him credit.... if you really wanna know just read the info on the track on the vinly or cd itll most the time tell you exactly who did what and who was involved...

Mike Clark is the man behind Tiesto's preset's. At a dj expo in Holland a month ago, he gave a presentation of those sound sets, created on a Virus B. Back in the days Tiesto did his on production, but he is to busy for that now. I'm not sure how great his account is on his latest production's.

i believe tiesto definately used vanguard to create his bassline in his version of adagio for strings (typical gated sound) and also in nyana he used vanguard i think...
