2004.12.31. alienInFlux + Promise annual NYE event!

Join Promise & alienInflux for their annual event in downtown Toronto:

Just another party - jus' another suggestion!~

xXx sunshines

alienInFlux and promise newyearseve 2005

To all of you who have come out this year and enjoyed the Promise Sunday Afternoon Soundsystems at Cherry Beach, Kajama moonlit tall ship cruise, the Good People party at Tangier, and this year’s Harvest Festival - thank you!

Come join us with friends and friends of friends and welcome in the new year in a casual warm way that avoids the crazy hype of the typical new years eve. We celebrate this night in the center of Toronto in a wonderfully versatile two room location. The focus is on Canadian talent - with two special headliners visiting from the West Coast. Come early, stay late and feel at home in a spot where you can gather, get comfortable and do what you like all night long. We celebrate the positive changes that come with the passage of time.

This new years eve is extra special as both of us have just returned back into town from afar. David has been spending the winter living in British Columbia snowboarding up in the sky at Whistler/Blackcomb and is returning specially to build and host this event, and Irving has spent almost a whole year in sunny far-flung Australia surfing and studying at teachers college. This is a big homecoming and we are really excited to come back in time to reunite with good friends and the excitement of Toronto.

Last year and the year before and before that too, the event sold out about a week in advance. So we would really recommend that you get tickets for you and your crew much in advance. Both David and Irving would be happy to come by and drop your tickets off. Please give us a call if this is what you would like to do. David’s cell is 416 550 2702 and email [email protected], and Irving’s cell is 416 919 3789 and email [email protected].

dj lineup - We celebrate Canada's ability to produce amazing musicians by flying in two personal favourites from Vitamin BC.

Tyler ‘t-bone’ Stadius - Vancouver

Tyler was instrumental in bringing house music to Vancouver in the early 90s. He hosted and played with djs like Derrick Carter, Deep Dish, Terry Francis and more and has since played around all over the place including Australia and Croatia! His biggest recent accomplishment is a mix cd on the respected Fabric series. Interestingly, despite his solid reputation, Tyler has rarely played in Toronto. So this is a really special time to have Tyler playing for us and welcoming in a new year with his cool blend of techno and house.

Noah Pred - Vancouver

Noah hails from Vancouver and has played extensively in Montreal. Over time, his releases have been praised by djs like Carl Cox, Cari Lekebusch and Laurent Garnier. He is devoted to authentic and soulful strains of techno in all its permutations. Noah was one of the favourite djs to play at one of the recent Fukhouse techno nights. He plays a deep vibey type of beats that’s great to dance to.

space
This year’s event is being held at the downtown Funhaus, beside Amato’s on the north side of Queen West just east of Bathurst St. We are excited to be finally holding an event at this space. It is a great medium sized venue and is really versatile for changing and decorating. Also it has two separate areas so we can have a nicely diverse lineup of music. It’s a fun place - some of you may remember Adam Bentley’s legendary annual Halloween parties there. We will be changing and enhancing the venue to make it perfect for your new years eve. The main room will be house and techno focused and the second room will have a nice mix of downtempo and breakbeat music.

our buddy Justin

We are throwing this party with Justin from alienInFlux. Justin was our earliest mentor and role model when we started holding parties and we have collaborated really well over the years since. We have held full moon tall sailing ship events together, warehouse parties, and we have participated in the annual Harvest festival with him on a farm outside of the city each year. Also, his Boreal events really inspired us – he brings 50-80 people by canoe deep into the forest by a river for a weekend of dj music, sun, relaxation and a nice break from urban life. Justin has spent almost a decade now producing some of the most personal and memorable parties and he pays really close attention to the things that really matter in how people feel – location, light and sound first and foremost. It’s really amazing to see him in action driving all elements of a party, and it feels good to work together again.

New years eve is typically a time of year that is overhyped and underenjoyed and we have had fun in past years offering people an alternative to all that. It’s just a party with good music and good people and a warm friendly environment to get down and boogie with your friends. Come out and enjoy yourselves.
