Age Shouldn't Matter...

I've noticed that a lot of DJ's seem to forget some of the classic tracks of the past that have stood the test of time and still sound great today. I would love to hear DJ's throw a lot of good classics in their sets. I'm sometimes sick of hearing all of the up to date stuff. DJing should be about constructing a magical and amazing set and whichever tracks would complete that best should be incorporated regardless of their age. I'm thinking: 45% New Releases, 30% Exclusive Promo's, 25% classic tracks ... at least for sets 3 hours or more.

His name rhymes with for rent arm chair.

Well, it does not really rhyme in that way (at least not when you pronounce it in the French way as it's supposed to be done) but you're right about his style

And I agree with the fact that it really shouldn't be all about the newest tracks. For example, I have been digging into the UK prog sound from a few years back lately, and some of that stuff still sounds remarkably fresh nowadays. I do not even want to be like far too many others who are just chasing for the newest tunes, when there are far more true gems to be discovered from the (both more and less recent) past.

And 30% exclusive promos? You've gotta be kidding me. That's ridiculous.

i feel like, contrary to your argument, that a lot of djs do play a lot of old tracks during their longer sets. for example, sasha very often has been heard dropping "expander" and armin drops appreciates the older stuff. i think that you will notice this more when you see live shows, rather than hear a recorded set.

I kind of agree in that classics should be brought back, but not in the form of a bootleg or new remix. I want the original tracks that made me dance!

i'll have to actually make an effort to see garnier next time he's here. most seem to regard him as alegend but av heard so many say he's SHIT!

i agree no1 should just limit themselves to new stuff...

Laurent Garnier? I know he drops old stuff and that's the only name I can think of that even remotely rhymes with that.
