Drunk Tiesto @ World

My first time to World... awesome space. I Love the lay out, the club is first class. Funny how its owned & operated by the wwf. (LOL!)

Tiesto: OMG! Incredible set although a couple of records skipped... So much better than his Gatecrasher set he did for Limelight back in March.

Highlights of the set: Delerium's Silence (ofcourse ), Urban train to close the party out (sweet!)... but the spotlight of the night for me: Jose Amnesia's The ETERNAL!!!!! F-ing incredible!! I almost wet myself when he dropped that track. He follwed that up with Ralphie B's Massive. Very nice night indeed. Just what NYC needed... a break from dark house and a night full of beautiful trance.

Utah Saints- Lost Vagueness (Oliver lieb main mix)
Insigma- Open ur eyes
Salt Tank- Eugina (Tiesto remix)

Tiesto is pathetic because he played 90% of the tracks he did here in Montreal & Toronto ...

Why was he better in March??? I knew every song he played at Slimelight also, several which he played on Saturday.

The venue, crowd, vibe, & energy was much better. The whole ordeal when he played Silence was way too dramatic. Tiesto is too big for the World. Before we went to LL in march I said if he plays Silence I'm leaving. He played it & then he played it 7 months later. It's time to put silence to sleep.

Twilogoddess (nice nick btw), I have to disagree with you... (remember that this is all a matter of personal opinion). I mean I understand where you're coming from... I trainspotted at least 90% of his songs as well, but that's why I loved it so much. I'm getting tired of listening to b-sides and obscure dark progressive tunes all night. If I want to listen to a set mostly comprised of tunes I've never heard before, I would go see DT. I wanted to hear familiar, sweet trance tunes and that's why I went to see Tiesto.

I agree Silence should be retired... (I still like the tune, honestly) but it is sort of expected of him to spin it. Anyway, he dropped one of my all time fav trance tunes: Jose Amnesia's The Eternal (Pulser Remix) and that just made my night. When was the last time you've heard a good trance set? It's been a while for me.... Last time I heard sweet trance tunes was in Ibiza (Godskitchen with Ferry Corsten & Fergie 9/4). In NYC? Probably back in March @ LL's GC night, when Tiesto & Bond came.... which btw, I thought Bond kicked major ass and Tiesto was sort of a let down after his set...

The World is a nice space...its a pity that the WWF of all people own it. The vibe I thought was surprisingly pretty decent. It was definitely much better than SF's or EXIT's!! I stayed away from the dance floor (after 2am) because it was so loud down there...plus there was this crazy bitch dancing like a maniac that kept kicking me in the leg and stepping on my feet! I had friggin foot prints on my leg! I stayed in front of the left bar upstairs after that and the music sounded great from there. No ringing ears the next morning

DT isn't the only DJ that plays fresh tunes. He beat Revolution, I feel Loved, & Africa to death. I didn't go to Tiesto to hear anthems from 99. I have over 30 Tiesto sets....this was no different.

Dude I haven't seen DT for a year but i used to hear him spin all the time and he is the fucking MAN !!!! Ain't no way that u can compare DT and Tiesto...they spin different types of music. DT drops some well known tracks as well. I remember nites when I'd go and trainspot and he would drop well know house trax like

Green Velvet - Flash (DT Nitrous Mix)
Afro Medusa - Pasilda
Rameriez - Loooking for Love (Oscar G Mix)
Timo Maas - Ubik (The Dance)
Celeda - Underground

plus many other well know nyc house style trax. Tiesto is virtually dropping the same tunes that he used on CD's like Magik and Revolution...come on those tunes are more then 8 months old...I know they are good trax but he should be playin freash tunes. I don't mind him dropping his own productions like "Flight 643" or "Urban Train" cause ppl expect to hear that...the same thing with well known remixes like Silence...but wtf is he doing dropping Eugina and Lost Vagueness ??? Come Tiesto there are many new trax that can get the crowd moving...maybe it's time he started working on his sets more instead of dancing around in the DJ box all nite. After all it's the music that important and not the show right.

Hmmm...TwiloNYC...you say PvD is a trance God...no doubt he spins some prog stuff in his sets...much more then I heard Tiesto play...and yet you seem to be hating the prog sound....weird. I personally don't want to hear all of one type of genre in a given nite. I like the dj to mix it up...that's why I luv PvD...he combines many diff genres and takes you for a ride. I agree with TG...the two yr anniversary was off the freakin hook...
The crowd and vibe at World was disappointing...felt more like SF then Twilo....I still miss that vibe at Twilo...it's gonna be hard to get that somewhere else.

WOAH Ok guys, maybe I'm being a little unclear... so before anyone else start picking away at everything I say.....let me clear this:

I went to see Tiesto for a trance set and just that. I didn't and wont ever expect to hear a progressive set from him. He drops a lot of the same stuff all the time. so what? I still like the stuff he spins and would like to hear it in a club. Thats why I went to ticketmaster and bought tickets. I have a shit load of his sets but listening to it at home or in my car is a lot different than being in a club with thousands of peeps and actually dancing to it. So, I had a good time.... shoot me.

Kytracid: I am not comparing or bashing DT (It would literally be comparing apples to oranges), I really like his stuff. I think he is an amazing talent and there's no doubt about it. He spun at some of the best parties I've been to. But lets face it, like you said he plays 'NY Style House'... which means what? NY has been all about House. Its refreshing to go see someone who's not afraid to drop some cheese (which I love very much). Its a nice break from the darker stuff I've been hearing for the past couple of years in NYC.

twilochik: I'm sorry where did you get that I hate progressive sounds? PvD is still my fav DJ. I've travelled all over the place to see this guy (Boston, Ibiza, Miami...DC in Nov!) since Twilo's closing. I dont think he is about progressive sounds...he is more about energy, pure, kick-your-ass-from-beginning-to-end energy... and you'll hear PvD on any given night drop tunes that are more than 8 months old.... so what? I love when he drops old tracks like Cream, Fragile or Namastai. Its refreshing to hear old records dusted and spun sometimes. I have to agree the PvD's 2yr anniversary at Twilo was probably the best party ever....
oh btw, if you want vibe like that of Twilo....goto Ibiza and check out Space or Amnesia.... forgetaboutit! I love We love sundays @ Space!! The best vibe anywhere!!!!

TG: How long were you in Ibiza?

T -NYC...sorry I must have misunderstood your previous comment about "dark obscure progressive tunes". Personally, this is how I like a set to be...I like to hear new stuff where I'm turning to people and saying...WTF is this song its sikk! And then I luv to hear an occassional old song..stuff that brings back good memories and makes me and the crew go crazy. But I don't want to hear a set of all old stuff. I like it mixed up. Unfortunately I found Tiesto's set to be rather too old...too predictable. I had a great time..but he's no PvD.
And I'm trying to work on getting myself to Ibiza...but there are a couple of things that prohibit me at the moment. But I'm def going to DC in Nov! He definetely is full of energy and that's what I luv about him...but there's no denying that he too spins some slightly dark stuff. I find that by him doing it..it enhances the uplifting stuff he plays even more....how can a dj take one on a journey without going from dark to happy...obscure to anthem...without one or the other the set is lacking...and I feel PvD is one who can combine those in a great arse kicking set! Ahhh Nov is too long to wait! lol
