i use vanguard for psytrance. its quite ideal because the band pass filters are quite smooth so you can open and close the cutoff to produce these lush sweeping leads. you can also open the panning dial on the amp section and the automate the spread to sweep it in stereo. i found it also quite suitable for psy leads using the glide function. avoid the presets. you wont find what you are looking for in any patch bank. ive got some psy patches i built myself lying around. i can maybe dig up an older one and show you what i mean. but yes, vanguard is pretty good for psy. its pretty good for alot of things actually. very versatile instrument.
the squelching sounds, those are built on nord leads. the acid lines are typically tb303 lines and theres quite a few good emulations of that machine around. muoun tau is free and its good. but i hear that audiorealism bassline is the best 303 emulation you can buy so i suppose you might want to check that out.

some of the soundbanks on kvr are to my mind, better than the preset bank that comes with vanguard. some of them like the white rabbit volumes just demonstrate more of the variety of the instrument than the default soundset. from that you would be forgiven for thinking the only thing vanguard can do is cheesy epic trance.

right now the three main synths i have is Vanguard,V-station Absynth and Pro 53 ,if anyone is into this type of trance if you could just let me know which synth would be good for Goa Psychedelic Trance
and if i need another type synth which one would that be (soft synth).
thanks |
yes, it is good for goa, especially for pads, strings and not-so-fat leads. its fat leads are sometimes a bit too fat. i use synth1 quite a lot for background melodies.

you arent trying hard enough if you think its not that suitable for psy. learn to program it and keep trying. you cant even scratch the surface of this synth in such a short amount of time.
