Xone92 - Rotary vs Linear

Still searching for information on this. I am leaning towards the rotary version. Has anyone tried both or even just the rotary?
what are the pros/cons of each? Or is it just personal preference?

I own the Rotary version and am absolutely in love with the thing. I tested the linear one, and like Trinity said, there wasn't as much resistance as I would have liked...they had a pretty loose feel to them. In terms of the price, I got mine for $1699 before tax, which is the same as the linear.

OMG. I love the 92. Much better than the 62 in every aspect.
I bought the linear last night and I will be returning it today for the rotary. Rotary will fit my mixing style very VERY nicely.

whether its a Xone92 or a radioshack mixer (although i dont think these come in rotary ), it'll depend on how you mix. rotary is a no-no for techno, or any style in which you like to make quick cuts. no-no for turntablism, for the most part.

but if you're looking for smoothness, that's where it's at.

yeah anything that involves long smooth mixing, rotary mixers are great for, for example, house, prog, and some types of trance. you are fucked the moment you play a remotely hard record though

Can't you just use the cross fader for that?

during some mixes when i am using normal linear faders i wish i was using a rotary to get super smooth transitions.

...but then my next mix may be a cut, and i am glad i dont have one.

it would be nice to have both on one mixer, and just toggle between the two depending on how i feel
