OK im going to jump on this first.
(please note: some of this information was taken directly from the virtual turntables help file)

FIRSTLY, get virtual turntables! (www.carrotinnovations.com). Most other programs usually have gimmicky/useless looking features (in terms of what true Djing would require), while VTT has all the stuff a Dj REALLY needs for mixing on a computer. (you mix/beatbatch completely by yourself.. like you would on turntables.)

For making a headphone cue, you have exactly 2 options:
1. You use an audio splitter
2. Get a second sound card

When an audio splitter, basically VTT sends all data that SHOULD GO TO THE SPEAKERS to the left channel, and all the HEADPHONE DATA to the right channel. You buy a cheap stereo splitter from Radioshack that takes the output from your soundcard, and splits each channel into a separate mono output, where the left output you connect to your headphones, the other one you connect to your speakers.
(i hope that made sence!). the major downside to this is taht your tracks get converted to mono sound instead of stereo!

For getting a second soundcard.. well im sure you've figured what you would do. I hear some people get sync problems with such setups, but there are proper ways to set them up correctly. just make sure you dont get the same kind of card that you already have, people have alot of trouble with two of the same soundcards. the big plus to 2 soundcards is that you can use an external mixer, and you retain the stereo sound

i use a soundblaster live card which has front and rear outputs for 3D sound, and the Digital 1200sl software by visiosonic. you plug your speakers into the front output and you headphones into the rear output. this is probably the best way to do it, but the sblive is quite expensive....

I've got 2 different sound cars installed on my comp at the moment but I don't have a mixer.
I think it is possible to use VTT to output one track to the speakers and another to the headphones.
I think the output is in stereo , am I right??

yes with VTT and two soundcards you can mix in stereo with cueing..

in fact I am doing it right now!

what I would like to figure out is how to stream my mix using shoutcast..

it's a DSP plugin, so VTT should support it..

but.. it won't work for me.
