Promo?

Hi,

I've been looking at various vinyls. This is a noob type question I just wanted to know what a promo copy is. Like some don't say promo and others do. Like i was looking at chicane - halcyon and it said it's a promo copy. What does that mean?

promo is short form for promotional copy

they send it out to deejays, journalists, writers and some stores before the main release date.

selling promo's is usually illegal, but is generally tolerated in the EDM scene. Alot of people have been taken to cour tfor selling madonna and george michael promos on ebay.
