any scratch mixer should do ya fine. i've seen breaks DJs use DJM500s too.

Why would you need a different mixer for breakbeat than for trance?

well, typically breakbeat DJing involves a lot of cutting and sometimes scratching, a mixer with gradual faders won't be ideal for this.

The only club mixers you can't do cuts on are rotaries and Xone's. I mix breakbeat but I use a battle mixer. I put a much greater emphasis on turntablism than mixing but I find myslef to be an exception to the rule.

you would just need a mixer w/ an adjustable or replaceable crossfader.

You can do quick cuts with any mixer but crabs and orbits and stuff you need a nice crossfader. Most breakbeat DJs don't really crab or orbit though in their sets so I still don't really see the need for a different mixer then the one you're mixing trance with.

you dont need a scratch mixer to play breaks, so long as it has padle faders and a sharp eq curve (or adjustable, as a lot of mixers are) you are fine.

all good stuff,i dont really ever scratch i beatmatch -only thing i could do with is kill switches or a broad set of eq's.i had a xone32 but found it poo - eq's are limited - filter becomes pointless when used for the 14hundredth time and transmute buttons i rarely ever used. so all i had it for was the good design. and would you believe it went wrong - haha!could only get sound out of right channel.so ive returned it and have some cash to spend and would like a mixer that i actually make use of most of its features. im considering the pioneer djm707 or the djm500 due to it being loaded with features. so does anyone know of a mixer that i might fancy?

How about checking the Denon X1500, Ecler Nuo5 and since your looking at the 707, why not check the 909 for the effects.
