Transport alcohol in luggage?

Friends, Romans, countrymen...

I will make a work-related trip to the UK and will stay in the fair country of Scotland for a few days.

As a connoisseur of fine scotch I plan on purchasing a bottle or two. I was wondering if its ok to pack a sealed bottle of scotch or any other alcohol for that matter in one's luggage? This will remain closed on my trip back...no drinking in the plane

no

Whenever I fly, they ask me to put it in the hand luggage, securely sat under your seat or in the overhead compartment, i've seen them make people take bottles out of their hold luggage before, so you should be ok if you do it that way... good idea is a bottle carrier where u can fit upto about 6 bottles in 1 nifty neat device

i dunno, ive seen both.

traveling internationally it usually ends up in your carry on due to tax free shopping. the big issue is how much you are legally allowed to move (generally less than 2L hard alc). domestically ive had friends check 2 handles of booze, but those were plastic bottles also|

if you're planning on buying something special, or something you simply cannot get at home, would you trust it the baggage handlers? ever seen the way your luggage gets thrown about? Carry the bottles yourself

Yeah, don't put it in the cargo hold. Had a problem back in the day when a plane came in with about 100 5gal containers of orange syrup for the milk plant. I think 17 blew enroute and depradated mail and everything else in the hold. Awful damn dumb. I seized the load, and story got real long from there before I ever released rest of shipment.
