[REVIEW] james holden at spirit 21.1.2005

well i started feeling sick earlier in the day, and we just finished deliberations in the murder trial i was a member of the jury for, so i figured why not come out for a bit, see some people, listen to some tunes?

i stayed for about 2 hours and it was definitely worth it. it was a little slow to start as it seemed that holden himself was warming up but he was playing some wicked stuff during the time i was there. i can only imagine what stuff he's laying down now at spirit, and how he'll finish up. it definitely didn't satisfy me enough, but being tired and sick, yeah it definitely lessens the joy.

big shoutouts to the DCTAs that made it up, reuben, julian, amanda and jonathan, always a pleasure. to NYTAs... well duh, i see you guys all the time (except for you daniela, you don't come out much!), but finally got to meet one of the young'uns of the bunch, and that's elena. u're such a sweetie! hope to see you at some other events soon.

i hope the rest of everyone is having a ginormously awesome time as i write this.

it was an ok event, i mean he was doing really well in the beginning i was impressed with every track for the first 2 or 3 hours, but then he started getting weak. i mean im really disappointed he didnt play: System 7 - Planet 7 (James Holden Remix)
Ashtrax - Digital Reason (Ogenki Clinic Remix)
James Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Remix) <~Only Teased With It
Oh well it was a good night overall, that fight was pretty cool i wanted to hit the guy who got knocked out...mad annoying

P.S.: And for those TA's who were asking "Did he just say he was djozzman?" yes it was me...and even further i was right next to you guys all night, not surprising that none the shit u said was behind to my face but behind my back =). I was the guy in the white shirt with the weird design as a logo.

I knew you were there, I just didnt care.

Holden was very impressive. Some of the stuff was questionable, but overall it was great - kept me dancing all night. It was nice seeing all the usual faces, and was pleasantly surprised to see Reub, Julian, Manda & John... as well as Ryan and his friend. Good times, til next time.

Overall pretty good

I had a good time, I couldnt stay past 2 so not soure what the set was like later but the first 3 hours were good. Someone mention a fight - did it involve that guy that kept on bending over and reversing into people by any chance - very annoying when one is listening to the grooves!
