Feedback anyone?: Nomen Nescio - Mercury Rising

Hey there trancelovers, guess who's back with a brand new track

I worked on this track yesterday and it went pretty quickly and smoothly. It turned out to be a more dreamy epic track, the evening falls while the sun is still out there kind of track, that is why I named it mercury rising (not inspired by the movie at all )

Below URL is where you can find Mercury Rising :

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/1/nomennesciomusic.htm

The mastering might need some tweaking here and there, but for starters let's begin with the feedback on the song itself

Looking forward to your reactions!

Cheers,

Nomen Nescio

diggin the work, a little bit more atmospheric than the trance i like, but of course you clearly stated that was what the track was like.

=
i like the melody, very simple and floats right along over the perc. good kick in after the breakdown when you open up the cutoff on the lead and let the synth bleed its highs.

=
before the breakdown there is a subtle backup sequence going, you know the *beep beep beep boo beep*. i thought that fit well with the lead, but after the breakdown its gone. maybe re-introduce it after the breakdown and lengthen the notes a little bit so its more pronounced. also, the perc (mostly the bass kick) sounds a bit echoey. maybe tune down the reverb a bit.

just my opinions of course, keep it going!

Thanks for the valuable input! Exactly the kind of input I need. Working on the bass kick right away and the beep beep boo beep I love a lot but I have to see if it fits in as soon as the lead has entered as well.

Going to work on it right away. Hopefully the new adjustments are hearable later today.

Cheers!

Okey, I did something with the feedback and the updated song is now ready for listening. The kick has less reverb and the arp riff comes back in the leadpart after the break.

Hope everyone likes the track. The mastering is a lot better now as well

Cheers!

Ps: Anyone suggestions for the lead? It sounds a bit to sharp when played louder. Or is that just ear fatigue because I heard the song too often today?

listening...

nice percussions in the beginning there.. the bass is raw and cool.. cool pads.. bass doesn seems a little muddy.. like the blips.. i like the lead as well.. but the whole thing especially the bass is too muddy and doesnt make the takeoff sound especially good.. try changing the bass.. and maybe switch some lead sounds..

and btw: I made a track called Mercury Rising

u can find it here if u care:

Subtle - Mercury Rising

Also a very nice track there Subtle....I wasn't aware that your track has this title (new to the forum). I can understand why yours is also called mercury rising, also that dreamy evening kind of atmosphere.

I changed the bassline so thanks for the input. The bass is now less muddy and doesn't interfere with the lead anymore. This forum so far is exactly what I had hoped it would be. Getting very nice feedback so far

Cheers!

This sound really good. Nice production m8.

The percussions that you made/used during the break doesn't match the beat very well. Try fixing that by moving the percussion sequence by 1/16th forward or backward. I don't hear a bassline. ( I guess it must be my crappy speakers )

I like the track! Nice pumping rhythm, good harmonies, transparent sound .

But @ the main-part the lead is covering the HiHats and the other melodies too much, so the track gets a bit muddy there. Maybe it would be good to reduce its heights and reduce volume also a bit, give every sound its own frequency-room.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks again for the feedback I am noticing that I am more of a melodyman, so when I listen to my own track I pay attention to that, not so much to the bass and percussion. After reading the latest feedback I have changed a couple of things:

- Turned down the volume of the leadsynth and put a bit less emphasis on the highs.
- The hi hats and percussion have been raised a notch in volume
- the bass is a bit more promiment (just a bit, don't want it to ruin the atmosphere)'

I am hoping you will like the track now and it rocks my world that some of you like the track

It is possible that soundclick doesn't connect immediately, it has been slow all day

Cheers and enjoy your saturday!
