Do you beleive in LUCK?

Do you beleive in luck, or do you think that anything can be acheived with persistance?

Example: Lets just say your goal is to become a billionaire. Do you beleive that at some point, luck will be a factor. Or is it irrelevant, because with persistance you can acheive anything.

I believe that there is the potential for things to fall into place for a person without his or her direct involvement. In the end he/she would benefit from this, but I wouldn't call it luck. Luck implies that such things happen to certain people more often than others...

i guess it all depends on what your definition of luck is..

quote:

luck Audio pronunciation of "luck" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (lk)
n.

1. The chance happening of fortunate or adverse events; fortune: They met one day out of pure luck.
2. Good fortune or prosperity; success: We wish you luck.
3. One's personal fate or lot: It was just my luck to win a trip I couldn't take.

intr.v. Informal lucked, luck·ing, lucks

To gain success or something desirable by chance: lucked into a good apartment; lucked out in finding that rare book.

i guess this means i do ?

no amount of luck or persistance will let u become a billionaire if you dont have the necessary skill...

but you'd be suprised by how much you could achieve from events that you arent even aware of (if you'd like to call that luck...)

No.. luck is an attribute.. ie: he/she is lucky. It implies that advantageous coincidences happen more often to people who possess the attribute (luck). Another way of putting it is that the concept of "luckiness" (sp?) is a predetermined quality.

This is my main gripe with "luck"... I hate the idea of "fate".. ie your life is predetermined.

as an engineer, I have to believe in luck. Otherwise, none of us would ever graduate. Luck and the mystical bellcurve. The two driving forces of academics.
