The meta-millenium dark-ages for music
O.k im done with the 00s, its probably the most dark era ever to arrive in terms of music, art, films... probably everything. You can look back at the 60s and you ve got that hippie revolution, 70s-probably the most creative era for music prog-rock,punk-rock and yes, the forst forms of electronic music done by geniouses(tangerine dream, eno, vangelis etc..). The arrival of the strange 80s than and new-wave, synth-pop, industrial, EBM, punk great forms of avant-garde music that largely influenced the mainstream in general,even fashion.Even 80s pop-music was probably a thousand times better(micael jackson ) than todays pop- r n b/rap CRAP!!!!!(well, at least it had quality melodies that survived the test of time!).
At last.. the great "technocratic" 90s(which i ve actually experienced) the development of computers, the visions for a virtual reality, the development of internet, the appearance of polygon graphics all of these and much more progressing side-by-side with the electronic music (meta-)explosion-orbital, leftfield, detroit techno, british trance and progressive, hell, even rock was not dead yeat! the "dirty" grunge, the dreamy shoegazer, the symphonic and complicated post-rock.
Now... the nightmarish 00s. The f*cking stupid 00s. In an era were wars are happening and no one is saying anything about it. Where the stupid hollywood had finally ruled the film-industries with big-budget, special effects-filled mindless(and historically distorted)epics. Where no political statement is made. Where no musical revolution/movement (for the first time?)is occuring. In an era were pop music is comprised by 100% mindless, trashy, rhytmic type of music. Im talking about r'n'b/garage/rap CRAP(somepeople like to consider it as music...) Where actually underground is comprised by poor independent electronic acts and labels with minor power. With the great EDM explosion(the big-bang of the 90s!)ending in an endless recycling stupidity in favour of easy money. In an era were internet has transformed people into anti-social zombies(even net-suicides are now possible!). That was not my vision of the internet in the 90s.(the music industry is striving due to f8cking mp3s) That was not my dream for EDM. But yes. its true there is no single movement/statement/revolution occuring. Its like the world had came to a halt. This is probably the first stage of globalisation. To transform people into mindless working machines. Yes its true.. we live in the 00s, the era of f*cking futuristic mobiles with fantastic cameras and lots of net-porn!Great!!!
