Shit music tends to stay underground, but there's such wide acceptance of EDM that no good music will be underground for long.

most of the parties here are in really ghetto venues that are usualy like the back half of a restauraunt or a warehouse across the street from a cemetary or something, so it seems pretty underground to me.

Alot of gay clubs will book an EDM DJ and be straight for the night too.

But there is also the upscale places downtown that most people seem to enjoy.

All of those things can be found just by using google the right way though, I don't think there are many parties that are that hard to find anymore, that is unless they are keeping me from finding them on purpose, which is very likely.

It really depends on where you go, I know there is alot of touristy popular type stuff in the bigger cities, but most of those cities also have local scenes too.

Your probably not going to find an illegal party anywhere in the country anymore, except maybe in the midwest or somewhere with alot of empty unpopulated space.

Psy hippies aren't very hard to find either, are they underground? They usually only charge like 5 dollars to get in and have alot of UV light decorations, woot.

there is a happy hardcore cult that roams the country, one time they came to a party I was at, I bet that scene will stay underground for a long time, if you can stand it, try it. They hang out at americancheese.com I think.

Everyone seems to have gone proffesional, I dont see any exchange and creation of music just for the fun of it anywhere, sure there are local DJ's and whatnot that claim to love the music and play at parties that have modest prices, but there aren't any ameteurs, nobody plays for free, nobody gives their music away, nobody uses cheap stuff to make an unexpected good sound.

Being a legit musician requires a much larger investment these days I think, so nobody can afford to have a real underground scene just for the fun of it anymore, they have to commercialize in order to cut their losses a little, sigh

Now, if I told you, then it wouldn't be underground anymore.

Sure, there's still underground EDM. Check out these genres:

Bunker Bass
Crustcore
Mantle Mash-ups
Cave-dwelling Industrial
