Over the past year my boys Sasha and Diggers have had the whole classic Northern Exposure series as well as Communicate repressed. I just completed my series by ordering Expeditions.
Go vinyl!

I always wonder why more classic records don't get repressed. If perfecto or whatever damn company owns them would just repress their classics they'd sell like crazy. Record companies need to stop speaking of financial troubles until they repress their classics, some of which would sell more than any new release.

Anyone else agree or do some believe that keeping certain vinyl rare is more important?

It has to do with legal issues. Sometimes when you license a track for the compilations you only have the rights for 3-5 years. They are non exclusive 3rd party deals that are limited.

Its nice to see the Northern Exposure stuff re-released, even though I am still mad at them for not including any of the remixers names in the credits.

i agree with ya steve. Music should be available to everyone. Up and coming djs usually have a hard time getting vinyls of older traxx, and i think that it really limits their style to what the new producers are churning out nowadays. I for one love to throw in old skool numbers in my mixes, but they are getting increasingly harder to find. This might also be a factor that has led to the growing popularity of mp3 and other digital music mediums. ( Legal of course ).

So in summing up : Repress = Good!!

I have no problems with represses. But they should make it obvious that it is a repress by having different packaging or something. That way the original pressings can retain their collectable value but people just getting into DJing can afford the older tracks if all they care about it the music itself.

some valid points... people that pay $100+ for a record may be pissed off about represses, but for new djs/general collectors represses can be a good thing... audiojelly is great that way for digital junkies... huge back catalogues available for purchase on that site.

i think the repackaging of represses is a good idea.

I got the East and West Coast Editions, repressed, but part of the fun is getting rare vinyl and hunting for them. I'll never complain about a repress, but I understand if they don't always get repressed. I was happy to add Enervate to my collection (West Coast). Now I'm only missing Dream Traveler - Time and Agnelli and Nelson - El Nino (which I don't want), from tranceport.

But is this an official repress? According to info and pic on Juno it looks like whitelabel repressings. Those of you who already have a copy in your hands: How is the sound quality?

It's bootleg... I added them to Discogs...see here:
