If this were on public property id be freaking out about this. But you have to realize that York is in fact private property. If the people who run York had asked the police to remove this person and he refused then they had every right to arrest him just as they would have the right to arrest him if he refused to get off your driveway at home.

They should have taken that protest out to Keele St.

Oh they helped him out alright.

Those videos sealed the deal for him being convicted of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

Way to go team!

helping him out would only get them in trouble john.
the protester beaten to the ground did exactly what he should have. passive resistance. Notice him not standing on his feet, it makes the cops carry you. same with cuffing, make them move your arms, you dont need to do it for them.

they should have formed a human ball when the cops started to walk towards them. that would have been the "shut up and defend" mode.
I saw it all during the G7 in Kannanaskis outside of calgary a few years back. Human chains, blocking traffic, human balls etc.

the police are left nearly powerless for you to spread your message, and then something liket his happens where they go too far and assault somebody. I mean, obviously we havent seen teh whole video, but it doesnt look like there was much discourse between the cops and protestors. I bet they didnt ask them to leave. they certainly didnt in the video clip. The just took an aggressive stance and attacked, which is when shit goes wrong protesting. Montreal, and Seattle come to mind.

cops are all in teh wrong. sorry..they arent police officers, they are OFF DUTY RENT A PIGS. If I suffered any injury, id take action against them, not money, just a statement.

Those morons were BREAKING THE LAW. They were creating a disturbance, on PRIVATE PROPERTY. York officials asked them to leave, they didn't, so they called the cops. The cops told them to leave, they didn't, so arrests took place. This is in NO WAY AT ALL police brutality. If anything, these hippie fucktards got what they deserved.

You break the law, you pay the price.

Actually, you guys are the morons. You're just talking out of your asses. You don't know what actually happened. They didn't get beaten up? Two of them ended up in the fucking hospital. The cops asked them to disperse, and then 2 seconds later jumped the guy. They didn't give them enough time.

They didn't deserve it. The cops were in the wrong. Next time you want to judge, do a little research before you open your mouths.

I don't know why they ended up in the hospital, because I studied those two videos as carefully as I could and didn't really see much "beating". The guy they were all focusing on seemed to only get hit a couple of times, and neither of the angles really give a clear view of how it all started. Sure, the protesters who attended the rally might *say* that the cops jumped him, but he might have also jumped the cops. As for being in the hospital, most protester types would go to the hospital for a cold.

I'm not saying that the police didn't overstep their bounds - I honestly don't know. I don't think you can really tell from the information available. Unless you've got additional sources for us?
