Tech help needed. conflict with PC and firewire 410

ok, this question is more about the computer than producing but i was hoping that someone might have encountered this problem and might be able to help me out...

so i bought my M-Audio firewire 410 yesterday and when i installed it, it raised hell with my computer. after working on it for about 6 hours last night i finally got the 410 installed and the system stable and running. the problem i am having is that the audio out of the soundcard is full of static and all crackly and just sounds like shit. i called m-audio tech support (seriously very helpful and nice i didnt even have to wait on hold) and we determined that the problem i am having is that my firewire controller and my video card are running on the same IRQ.

as soon as i am done posting this i am goin to disable any devices that im not using that are taking up IRQs (com1 and 2, lpt and such). remove my firewire card and reinstall it. however i ahve a really bad feeling that this will not solve my problem.

so my question is: does anyone know how to manually relocate my IEEE 1394 controller to a different IRQ?

thanks guys!

Vero

*edit* my computer is a custom built machine running win XP pro with SP2, abit KT7-Raid MB, athalon 1200 processor, radeon 8500 AGP. i will be happy to provide more specs if anyone needs them.

production softare: Ableton Live 4.0.1 and reason 2.5

IEEE 1394 successfully switched to IRQ 5 and is the only device on that IRQ. sounds still sucks! The tech guys at M-audio are stumped and so am I. any help, ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

ive read that the card has problem with NEC firewire chip.

i'm still waiting for my 410, this ebay bastard hasnt shipped it for 2 and half weeks

another thing you can try: remove ur firewire hardware profile, take the card out move it to a different slot, reinstall drivers.

let me know how it goes...
