Hi Dude,

Taken a listen to this and the first thing that strikes me is the percussion.
*They are very simplistic and need a little more work as you need something that drives the track along a lot more.
*The other thing that's definately missing is a bass line. It's either to low in the mix or simply not there.
*Your synths are also a little too loud in the overall mix as they tend to over power a little.

You have grasped the basics though and I look forward to hear how you progress as you can tell that there is definately music in that there head of yours.

Cheers
Nem

a track thats a true beauty. your version aint quite as good as the original but i can hear some very nice little quirks you have added. the break for example... is a really nice piece on its own.

as a bangin track i think it would work with a lot more work on the percs end. and a nice deep bass to fill the low a bit.

its so similar to the 'armix' by armin van buuren of gouryella in the ideas.

i like the slow comp or something you have on the kick. it works but id add another kick on top with loads of mid to beef it up a bit.. not sure. how you get that slow comp effect on the kick by the way? its got an original sound to it...

as a rmx i would say it oozes your personal style-which is very musical by the way add some loud percs and a bass line, do some eq/ mastering and generally clean the track up and id love this in a club!

Wow. Kinda trippy in the intro.

Percs could use some variation, though.

Rolling snare--. It's also too dry.

Breakdown was a bit sudden. That snare did nothing to make me feel ready for it.

Synth in break is interesting.

Double time breakbeat is cool.

Eh, buildup out of breakdown was lacklustre, and you brought the synth out too suddenly. With tracks like this, it's a good idea to use filters to your advantage to control the energy better. Rule of thumb: filters > drum rolls.

Or a flanger. Flangers are really cool for making a track explode.

Still nothing in percs, either. You really need to do something about those percs. Add more hats, some bongos, shakers, what have you. Give this track some energy.

I agree with everything thats been written above. 10 points for effort though.

Pretty hard ot remix a classic like this though. Well done on managing to achieve a different sound to the original. That breakdown in the original just screams big anthem but you managed to create a different feel.

you agree with nemesis, say its done about the bass and perc!
i used this kick and: thres: -13.5, ratio: 7.5:1, gain: 8db, attack: 10ms, release: 200ms, type: medium/r
also i added fl's parametric eq next to the comp, with the default "sub boost" setting

i'm not sure about the mastering but i'll try, circumstances dont allow me to eq'it right, i have crappy speakers (creative p580), crappy headphones (behringer hps5000) plus i'm working night shifts only, so i'm sleeping in the morning and i have only 2-3 hours in the afternoon to play music loud (i'm living in a apartment block)
-

i'll definitely continue working on it (i've atleast 10 unfinished remixes), i love the synths i used on this....

i agree on that too, i suck at breakdowns
i wanted to use corkscrew effect for the built up but i changed my mind, i guess i will use it afterall..

thanks for your replies guys, i got my batteries recharged with those 'music-inside' comments
i'm going to bed now, c u!
