Why have all the hassle and expensive of a car when you can fly or use the eurotunnel.

aye. in europe we have easy jet, which means you can fly between most european cities for stupidly cheap prices like £20 or £30.
if qall you want to do is travel between those three cities using the cheap flights is probably your best option. obviously if you wanna see all the places and scenery in between you will want a car but it will be a lot more expensive.

Additional, trying to navigate a car around some of the largest cities in Europe is not good, especially Paris.

i think only EU citizens get the really cheap train travel, and then not within the country of citizenship or something like that

you have to be EU to get Interrail. You get Eurail if you're not.
