Italian trademark of the 90's

What is this sound? It's a sound used very often by the producers of capella, 49ers etc etc...
It's very full, and fluffy. Sounds like there is some monster flanger/chorus/phaser on it that oscillates pretty fast...

Sample1
Sample2

Now that you've heard it you probably go "aaaahhh, that's the one, i remember this sound"

So if anyone has any clue about what produced this sound, how it was made, etc etc, please let me know. Is there a synth with this as a patch? Probably not...my guess is that it's custom made by the producers in italy...

the bass line in sample 1 is from a yamaha DX7

the main sound in both is a preset from an old synth.
Cant for the life of me remember which it is - From (vague) memory its from a roland 'D' series synth, or possibly a yamaha dx. Been a long time since i have used either.

this sound was used a lot in early hardcore rave tunes in the early 90s- albeit edited slightly. It is definately a preset, as i used to use it loads.

There's a preset for it in Vanguard that's called "Felix you?" It's called that because the most popular song that used it was Felix - Don't you want my Love (classic!). If you're trying to build it yourself, you need a rotary effect, not just a chorus or flanger.

No, no no...the felix track does not sound like that patch in vanguard..it similar, but definately not that one. And no, it will not work to use that patch.

Anyway i found what i think is an older version of the song, where you can hear the sound without all the flangers and whatnots. And no, it's not a saw-wave on this. Detuned sound yes, but not saw...

Listen

And compare to this one where there's alot more effects on the sound...
