David Guetta - The World Is Mine (Remixes) [Virgin Records]
This is by far one of my favorite recent releases. The double 12" released by Virgin is out within the past three days featuring a variety of remixers from Blackstrobe to Antoine Clamaran, each giving their own flavor to this track.
First EP
Blackstrobe Remix - Typical evil acidy synths and dark 4/4 bassline from Blackstrobe use a stripped down vocal sample and not much else is sampled from the original. I'm a big fan of Blackstrobe so I have a biased opinion on this one, although it's not my favorite on the EP.
Original Mix - Funky prog house track with a slight touch of electro and a great male vocal. Features a nice smooth bassline and a catchy background melody in the break to go along with the chorus vocals.
Antoine Clamaran Dub - Clamaran adds a bit of French house flair and funk to the original, keeping the main melody hook and using the same stripped vocal samples as the Blackstrobe remix. Definitely danceable and groovy, although it's my least favorite of the efforts.
Second EP
Deep Dish Remix - Vocal echoes, signature Deep Dish kicks and basslines wreak havoc on dancefloors. Pads and effects add nicely to the original while keeping original vocals and synths. A hands-in-the-air vocal break makes it a peak-time performer. My favorite of the bunch.
"Fuck Me I'm Famous Mix" - Guetta adds a much meatier 4/4 to the original with a hearty stomping bassline that's sure to get people moving. Guetta also adds an electro synth and pulls in the reigns during the full vocal verses but really lets you have it on the chorus.
This release is also out on a CD single with these 5 remixes as well as the video.
8/10 overall.
