How would this look for a beginner?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3778569635&rd=1

I'm thinking about getting a cd-j mixing setup in the next few months and I'm looking for ideas. I only plan on doing bedroom dj-ing and recording some of my sets. I don't wanna spend more than $500, though. Any thoughts?

nah dude... gemini definitely sucks when it comes to cd players. Now, seeing that you're running on a budget here, I'd probably go for the numark axis 2's.

Sure, they're pretty basic compared to what's out now, but they're reliable and they teach you all you need to know about beginner-djing.

Ebay's got some good deals on those, but just make sure you know what you're getting (as you do with anything on ebay).

Grab that and a relatively good mixer (I'd go for something that I'd hang onto for a while... maybe a Pioneer, but because you're on a budget, well, the Gemini ps676 has received some of the best reviews for a beginner mixer), and go from there.

Other than that mixer, however, stay away from Gemini.

Good luck, mate.

For the most part I'd agree, except for one purchase. I bought both my Pioneer CDJ800's together on eBay for a total (including 2 day shipping) for $740 USD.

I thought it was a great deal. Cheers,

RJT

that setup quite seriously sucks, i wouldn't bother. As for around $500, here's what you can get:
Turntable setup:
2x Numark tt200 (e-tronics:$159x2=$318)
Numark DXM-06(beach audio $187.99) or Denon dn-x100 ($250 everywhere)
Stanton 520sk ($28 hookedontronics)

cd setup:
1x Numark Axis 9 ($305.29 salestores1.com)
DXM06 (Beach Audio $187.99)
And save more money.

use the listed prices to get it pricematched at GC or somewhere you trust.

Personally, i would go the turntable setup. You can usually find more/better stuff on vinyl and it's just plain sexy to touch and feel. But don't forget, if your serious, you'll spend much more in the long run to upgrade. So if you can, use the $500 and spend $400 or so and buy a 1200, b/c every dj should have one! (or more)

I took this advice.. or route should i say..

I've now got a pair of 1210 mk3D decks on my bedroom floor.. right beside me actually sorry, i just love them to bits! However fun part comes now!

I don't have a mixer and quite frankly i can't afford shit! I could probably scrape enough together to get single Vinyl. It's a pity though cause it's become a real challenge to mix without a mixer (i'm only kidding i can't mix properly at all)

Anyway it's weird advice, (i'm in the car audio scene as well) and you'd be getting the same advice there. Save up then buy. If you don't like it you can still sell it on. The cheaper it is the greater the loss is when you sell them on

In that price you should go with numark cd players. I see 2 options here:

1. 2xNumark Axis2 & A mixer around 100USD (VMX200)
2. 1xNumark CDN30 Dual Cd-Player & Numark DXM03/06

Basic but decent setup I'd say.

mate i would just save up more money because i was in a situation where i saved for a year after i went to japan it was heartbreaking saving for that time. but when that day came it was my dream the came true.
i bought sennhiesers HD-25 , vestax PCV-175, X2 TECHNICS 1210MK5G'S
AND NOW I HAVE OVER 130 VINYLS I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS PROPERLY AND CONSISTENT. BUT I HAVE A JOB AND STILL GO TO SCHOOL. BUT THIS DJING FOR ME GOES BEYOND A PASSION I LIVE IT EVERYDAY.
MATE YOU WILL BE HAPPY IF YOU SET GOALS FOR UR SELF AND SAVE FOR YOUR DJ GEAR THAT YOU DREAMT HAVING, YOU WILL GET THERE.
AFTER SCHOOL I WOULD GO IN MY BEDROOM AND PRACTICE THE BASICS I TOUGHT MY SELF WITHOUT HAVING ANY OUTSIDERS HELP BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT IT IS IN MY BLOOD.
BUT IT IS UP TO YOU LIKE IT NOT WORTH SPENDING THOUSANDS IF YOU DONT LIKE IT CHEERS BUT IT WILL ALWAYS BE A CHALLENGE FIRST FOR BEGINNERS BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO GET OVER THAT BRIDGE.

CHEERS MATE AND GOOD LUCK!

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I MADE THE CHOICE OF SAVING MY MONEY FOR MY DREAM AND IT WAS JUST THE BEST FEELING WHEN U BUY SOMETHING THAT HAS MEANING TO YOU ESPECIALLY THE DECKS.

ON THE OTHER HAND VINYL OR CD IS UR CHOICE BUT THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT VINYL IT DOES COST ALOT THOUGH BUT IF YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT IT THEN IT SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM. ALTOUGH IT TAKES SOMETIME A WHILE TO BUILD A COLLECTION OF VINYL. MAYBE JUST BUY REALY GOOD CDJ'S .
SAVE FOR PIONEER CDJ-800'S X2. IT'S MUCH HARDER TO GET LEGAL MUSIC FOR YOURSELF IF U PLAY IN A CLUB BECAUSE I THINK YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALY OWN THE SONG. BUT NOW WITH A NEW GENERATION OF WHERE YOU CAN PURCHASE LEGAL MUSIC OFF THE NET!!! SO U CAN GET UR FAV CHOONS
BUT STILL KEEP THE LABELS RUNNING. ALTHOUGH FOR THE MOMENT YOU MIGHT BE JUST USING PC 2 PC SEARCHING TO DOWNLOAD SONGS FREE BUT IT DEPENDS ON WHO U R AND YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION, IN DJING IT JUST ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO MONEY IF YOU HAVE IT OR U DONT HAVE IT.
