Iwata indicated that the next-generation is a risky business for all hardware manufacturers and not just Nintendo. "Already publishers are not hesitant in disclosing their concerns over next generation gaming platforms, and development costs are rising. Publishers are afraid... of whether [the next-gen] consoles can appeal to people who are not the avid game fans of today." So the gist of the article is basically that Nintendo is pulling a risky move with the Revolution and this can mean success or failure for the company. However, they've got a lot of money to fall back on so there's no reason to cross them out of the console gaming world yet.

That quote makes me think Nintendo is ready for shooting itself in the foot yet again. Perrin Kaplan is so full of it.
