Re: State controlled media

i was reading some news @ bbc's website and came across this article. First i was just laughing about the ironi that the Italian foreign ministry summoned Sweden's ambassador to complain about a TV spot in the swedish public media (SVT, the Swedish similairity to the BBC). A spot that was an ad for SVT, saying that sweden has a free media that is not controlled by the government, unlike in italy for example where berlusconi is controlling 90% of the media (state controlled plus his own). Well so he was complaining to the government about the ad, kinda ironic since the guvernment have no controll over the media, and hence cannot do anything, and that was what the whole ad was about, so stupid
anyway, then i was thinking about how scary it is that in many so called democracys, the media, which is really what is making up people's opinion, can be owned/controlled almost completely by one guy (russia and italy good (bad) examples).
so, what da hell should we do about them?
btw, canadian beer sucks |
Berlosconi is no different in my opinion to Putin in Russia (except people expect it of Putin)
