Belt VS Direct TT

Hey, I'm looking at spending around $500 on a set.. ya i know im cheap.. but I'm wondering if i should just get belt drives and a mixer for 400$ or spend 800$ and get direct drives and a mixer.. I basically want to know the difference between belt and direct drive turntables, and which ones are the best for their price, thanks

PS. got any to sell?

Cool

I recommend you just fork out the extra cash for dds, Citronic packages are quite cheap for dds, their better mixer is good 2, ive only tried them, so if anybody has got them, speak now.
My current setup is:
2x Technics sl-1200 mk2 Silver
Stanton 3 channel mixer, RM3 or something like that
DJ S Blue Ortofon concordes
Panasonic 400WATT main speakers
ministry headphones, the goldish ones, that come with a cd and bag.

Smiley DJ DD

Direct Drives run on a motor. They tend to last longer and become more durable for DJ usage.
Belt's suck for DJ usage because they run on the movement of something similar to a rubber band. They wear out over a non durable time.

SO DD IS THE WAY TO BE!!

I know you probably don't wanna hear this, but there is really only one choice for DJ turntables if you are serious, the Tech1200SL series..

anything else, and your just going to upgrade it in the future anyway.. you can skimp on the mixer, but if I were you, I'd by tech12s for your decks.

and if you do decide not to get techs, then FOR SURE, don't get belt drives, they suck for mixing, the pitch slides around.

I shoudl still save up and buy the technics even if I'm just buying them to mess around with!?! I'm not planning on djing at clubs with them... If thats so I'm shocked... but hey thats how it goes. Are ya sure Technics are the best? I've heard vestax are good, as well as stanton.. I really just want a good value TT
