Is it me or has news of the tsunami...

...totally disappeared from TV?

Maybe I've been missing something but I haven't seen any updates on the situation there in a few weeks.

i had this discussion with my room mate the other day

9/11 attacks? we still hear about it, remember the day like theres no other... and etc etc... (think about how many people died)...

now...
tsunami happens... think about HOW MANY people died there, and do we hear about it anymore? ya.. right...

i was thinking a lot of it had to do with the fact that 9/11 was a terrorist (humans vs. humans) attack.. where as tsunamis were a natural disaster... but c'mon..

then i was thinkin that 9/11 attacks were closer to home...tsunami was so far away that we just dont think about it and we've moved on with our every day lives.. but once again.. wtf

people paid to the red cross or all those (including me), and they feel like they've done their part and now they're okay to ignore the whole situation. where back in india, thailand, sri lanka and so on... people are still suffering from the after effects.. too sad

I KNEW this would happen, only US "tragedies" remain on TV for more then 3 months. I made this statement on trance.nu shortly after the tsunami incident. And WOW, have people stopped giving a shit.....

But OOOOOOOOH NO!!!! THE WORLDS ATTENTION WHORE, USA, HAS TO GET PRIME TIME ATTENTION FOR YEARS after only a couple thousand people died!

FUCK THAT! Its not a tragedy, BUSH IGNORED WARNINGS, not much of a tragedy when a US president is to blame for the event.

Im getting REALLY sick of this kind of shit...........

Now something like 9-11 happens "here" then its gunna be big news "here" for a "long" time.

Note, most of the quotes arnt really required.

no they're "not"

It's surprising how a "global catastrophe" can be dropped off the news so fast. I bet Europe and Asia are still broadcasting...

Bah. The media sucks it long and hard.

Anyways, I'm too busy getting done with my college so that I could go to med school.

HERE WE GO:

http://trance.nu/v3/forum_viewtopic...101134&forum=20

some points from thread:

"^years after the event people still care and treat is as the worlds biggest tragedy....its fucken idiotic.

reality is, noones gonna give a shit for the 150+ thousand victims in east asia after the earthquake after 5 months, tops. that tells you something. "

"nah its aright, i dont expect people to discuss my feelings..i totally agree that as cold as it may sound the 100,000 dead over the 3,000 and rising gets overshadowed, but its cuz it happened to America... it was an empire that was untouchable, and all it took was two jets to change the course of the country. I udnerstand that the tsunami disaster is a whole bigger deal than 911, but see I experienced the attacks, i saw them from a distance, the buildings smoking...and i lived 20 minutes from the site, so its like my backyard getting blownup. Also to see new yorkers jumping from the windows and getting flattened as they fall the ground has a bit more effect on me, because its such a personal event...its two people who ruined 3,000 lives....and made those people endure that horror, where as the waves just came and took everyone down...it was less personal as far as the intent, it was natural, and sortof if u will "god's will" ....u just cant explain that type of thing, but 911 was all due to two assholes. "

When did I say that? Stop putting words in my mouth.

If you have nothing productive to say then don't post.
